FIDIC Credentialing completes another successful series of in-person board meetings in Geneva

The FIDIC Credentialing Certification board and the Management board met in Geneva for their respective in-person meetings just last week.

This is the first time since 2024 that both boards have been together in Switzerland. Their respective full day meetings covered the various updates since the last series of board and committee meeting were held, as well as the issues that required more in-depth discussion.

It was unanimously acknowledged that there have been several encouraging developments since the establishment of FIDIC Credentialing Ltd (FCL) in 2020 and in the last six years, there has been many milestones which have proved that the thirst for the professional qualifications offered by FIDIC are very much needed and highly valued.

The Certification board and its constituent Chairs and committees have worked tirelessly to ensure that the standards set for each of the six certification programmes meet the industry requirements and that the certification encapsulates the standard that is required for that practitioner to effectively carry out their work. While the discussions centred on the achievements and gaps, consideration was also given to the linkages between the programmes and to the future of certification as a whole.

The Management board focused much its attention on the road ahead, confirmed the appointment of various Certification board committee members, affirmed the importance of finetuning the programmes expansion and offered its views on how best to increase the company’s outreach in the future.

FIDIC Credentialing was created in 2020 to provide certification to professionals working in the engineering, construction and infrastructure industries. Its broad mandate seeks to ensure that practitioners working in these sectors can get their skills and knowledge validated by a well respected and trusted international institution, FIDIC.

To date, FCL has certified hundreds of candidates from across four continents and 120 countries thanks to a robust governance structure, the commitment of its volunteers, good marketing and the solid strategies employed to ensure its success has consistently grown in the last half decade. The FIDIC alumni has grown in numbers and many have proudly shared and showcased their international credentials to their network and beyond.

While some challenges remain, the Chair of the Management board, Sir Vivian Ramsey, expressed his confidence in the future of FIDIC Credentialing, as well as the hope that further initiatives would be developed in other regions of the world such as in Latin-America, where the thirst for certification is increasing.
